Associate Professor of Special Education
Dr. Thomas is licensed as a special and general educator and diagnostician with a decade of practice. As a researcher, she studies technology in teacher education and to provide access to the general curriculum. Additionally, Dr. Thomas is the daughter, sister, mother, and cousin of a person with a disability

Dr. Jon Lasser
Professor of School Psychology
Dr. Lasser is a licensed school psychologist with over 20 years of experience in public schools and private practice. He has co-authored a text on related service counseling for students with disabilities and has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles about special education services. He has been teaching at TXST since 2002.

Dr. Alyson Collins
Assistant Professor of Special Education
Dr.Collins has 9 years of teaching experience in Texas public schools and an extensive background in implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS). Her research focuses on effective intervention and assessment for students with learning disabilities, specifically in the areas of reading and writing.

Dr. Stacy Swenson
Graduate Research Assistant
Stacy Swenson is a graduate student in the School Psychology Program at Texas State. Stacy worked for over 10 years serving families and students that experienced recent trauma due to domestic violence or sexual assault. Seeing the effects of trauma on students has drawn her to the field of School Psychology in order to better serve students through a trauma-informed lens.
